M4HK

M4HK is a self taught artist based in Islamabad. He enjoys using paints, oils, inks, soft pastels,
spray paints, and items commonly found in toy stores.
His work is heavily inspired by mythology, history, philosophy, and storytelling. M4HK has an
academic background in socioeconomics from McGill University and he's been doodling on
notebooks since kindergarten. Between 2009 and 2017, he participated in underground art
shows and produced street art in Islamabad and Montreal. In 2021, he collaborated with
Ujala Khan for her solo show in Karachi titled 'Aftermath of Meaning'. His last exhibition,
Syzygy [2022], was a two-person show in Islamabad showcasing a kind of synergetic
automatism that explored themes of identity, history, and shared experiences.
In his latest work, M4HK focuses on history, historiography, and mythology as narratives
being created, altered, forgotten, rediscovered, and reimagined. With his new work, he
celebrates the shared humanity among cultures and civilizations across time and space,
and indulges in flights of fantasy as he fills in gaps left by the inevitable dereliction suffered
by human history.
